scenes is open 8:00-22:00, all year — before work in the morning, for a daytime meeting, or for a drink after.

The menu changes with the hours: morning, lunch from 11:00, afternoon from 14:00 and wine from 18:00, all from the same seat.

ALLPRESS coffee, with decaf and milk alternatives

The coffee is ALLPRESS Espresso, supplied from Kiyosumi-shirakawa in Tokyo. Batch brew 480 yen (8oz) / 640 yen (12oz), the signature flat white 530 yen, long black 500 / 660 yen, espresso 400 (single) / 500 yen (double).

Coffee can be made decaf, and milk changed to soy, almond or oat. There are also eight herbal teas from 880 yen.

Something light while you stay

For a longer stay, the Home Made Organic Granola Bowl (780 yen), Cheese Chicken Hot Sandwich (980 yen) and Brunch Salad Bowl (880 yen) are easy choices.

In the afternoon (14:00-17:00), any dessert comes with a set drink from 380 yen — a good time to take a break.

Getting there and paying

A 2-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Kusatsu Station, on the 2nd floor of the niwa+ complex, on the former site of Kanou Shoju-an.
